DIY Recipe: Detox Water

 

Start off your 2014 with a refreshing detox beverage! This lemon, cucumber and mint mix fused overnight creates a natural detox drink which helps flush impurities out of your system.

Cucumbers are one of the most hydrating vegetables, since they are mostly made up of water. Many detox programs include cucumbers on them for this very reason, and adding them to water pulls out their minerals to get an added benefit. Mix in the lemon juice and get the cleansing effect of citric acid to help clear out the digestive system. The mint makes things taste fresh and crisp, and goes nicely with the lemon and cucumber while providing additional nutrients and benefits.

Ingredients:

1 lemon (thinly sliced)
1/2 cucumber (thinly sliced)
10 mint leaves
1 litre water

Directions:

Leave in the fridge for a few hours or overnight and drink first thing in the morning before breakfast.
